The Sandy Springs Spartans were defeated, 4-3, by the Rock River Rats at The Rat Hole, even though Jeff Stephens pitched well for Sandy Springs. Rock River reliever Brian Cullen was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Jeff Stephens took the loss. The Rats move to 27-25 with the win, while the Spartans drop to 27-25.

Had Curtis Guiney not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Guiney hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Rats.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Guiney said.
