Kent Excels, But Drillers Win
The Beaumont Drillers had to overcome a big game from Wichita first baseman Erik Kent to leave Drillers Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 7-6. Kent went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Jamie Edwards picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-3. Steve Saeger was tagged with the loss. The Drillers now have a record of 17-40.

Dan Sierra was 1-3 with a walk for Beaumont. The 25-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Steve Saeger. It was his 22nd RBI of the season.

"What we get, we earn," Sierra told the Beaumont Bulletin.
