The Madison Beehive faced a tough opponent in Kelowna pitcher Javier Rios, but found a way to pull out the victory at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum by a final score of 5-1 in 11 innings. Rios went 9 innings and allowed 1 run. Ian Bolin snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits over 3 innings. He's now 3-4 on the season. The loss makes Kelowna 32-37.
Madison used the timely hitting of Andy Martinez to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Beehive on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Martinez.
