It might have been a rain-shorted game, but Bishops fans didn't seem to mind as long as their team got the win.
The Evanston Bishops got a magnificent performance from pitcher Dan Esgro, who muffled the Spokane offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Bishops win at The Kennel. Esgro, who leads the TAA in complete games with 5, went the distance for Evanston. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits.
The game could have flipped with one out in the bottom of the first. But Dan Esgro made what his manager later called "an A-plus pitch." With runners on 1st and 2nd and Spokane trailing 2-0, Esgro threw a splitter to Dave Robillard, who grounded out.
The Bishops now have a record of 50-26.
