Chavez Goes Wild, But Drillers Win
The Beaumont Drillers besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Kelowna left fielder Wilson Chavez by beating the Rockets, 12-8, at Drillers Stadium. Chavez was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Beaumont is now 50-43. Kelowna is 38-55.

Carlos Ruiz had a big grand slam home run for the Drillers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Beaumont trailing 8-6 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Alex Cubias and swatted a home run to right. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Drillers ahead, 10-8.

"I feel like a little kid every time I put the uniform on," said Ruiz.
