Spartans Get Clonked by Cornhuskers, 9-4
|
The DeKalb Cornhuskers stopped the Sandy Springs Spartans, 9-4, behind an impressive performance from Trent Waddell. The 26-year old third baseman made life miserable for Sandy Springs pitching. He was 2-3 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. DeKalb reliever Alejandro Saldana was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Shuta Fukuda took the loss. DeKalb now sits at 34-47, while Sandy Springs falls to 46-34.
With DeKalb leading 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Waddell hit a cutter from Shuta Fukuda for a 3-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Cornhuskers ahead, 5-0.
"To get where we want to as a team, we all have to do things out of our comfort zone," Waddell told the DeKalb Today.
