Beetlecats Fall Short, 6-5, at Beaumont
|
Aaron McClaskey did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats from being beaten, 6-5, to the Beaumont Drillers at Drillers Stadium. McClaskey went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs. Fidel Cabrera earned the win for Beaumont. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 4-9. The win puts the Drillers at 43-54, while the Beetlecats drop to 46-50.
First Baseman Joe Phelan made an impact for Beaumont, when he swatted a 3-run home run off Willie Fermin in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Phelan went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
Beaumont manager Takuzo Kaneshiro was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
