The Spokane Bulldogs could not turn a fine performance from catcher Benito Gonzales into a win. Instead, the Sandy Springs Spartans prevailed, 6-5, in 10 innings. Gonzales went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Sandy Springs reliever Victor Crawford was the winner. His record is now 5-2. The losing pitcher was Andy Carr. Kenny Holloway earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Brian Stokes came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Spokane pitcher Andy Carr, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Sandy Springs on top, 6-5.

"It was a test of wills," said Rafael Alonso, the Sandy Springs skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
