Rats Snatch Late-Game, 4-3 Win
|
The Black Mountain Mountaineers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Nick Bivins into a win. Instead, the Rock River Rats prevailed, 4-3, in 13 innings. Bivins threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Lee Pearl, 3-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. With the win, Rock River goes to 50-42, while the Mountaineers fall to 53-40.
Amlak Sang came through with a big-time hit for Rock River. The designated hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"This game showed the grit and grind of our guys," said Sang.
