Cornhuskers Axe Bishops, 6-3
|
The DeKalb Cornhuskers defeated the Evanston Bishops, 6-3, in TML AA action at The Corn Crib. DeKalb pitcher Luis Perea had a standout performance. DeKalb reliever Luis Perea picked up the win. Jesus Sanchez took the loss for Evanston. The Cornhuskers, now 63-45, have won 4 in a row.
Tony Carrillo had a big bases-clearing double for the Cornhuskers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With DeKalb leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Jesus Sanchez and swatted a double to right. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cornhuskers ahead, 6-2.
"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said Cornhuskers manager Keith Allen.
