Bulldogs Notch 9-5 Win Versus Beehive
|
The Spokane Bulldogs overcame a good performance by Madison second baseman Andy Childers to knock off Madison, 9-5, at The Kennel. Childers was 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Mario Correa picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-7. He struck out 4 in 5.2 innings. Picking up the save was Andy Carr, his 3rd.
Spokane catcher Chris Knight contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 20th hit of the season and put the Bulldogs ahead, 5-2.
In comments to the Spokane Chronicle, Knight admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
The last-place Bulldogs own a record of 29-79.
