The inspired effort of Wichita second baseman Manny Gamboa was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-6, to the Sandy Springs Spartans. Gamboa was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Sandy Springs reliever Kevin Felson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Melvin Montemayor took the loss. With the win, Sandy Springs upped its record to 68-51.

Zane Dankert was the walk-off hero for Sandy Springs. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Spartans shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
