In a close game at Paul Bunyan Field, the Beaumont Drillers edged the Adirondack Lumberjacks, 4-3. Beaumont center fielder Tsuneyoshi Taniguchi stood apart with his performance. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Beaumont is now 59-44, while Adirondack is 50-53.

Taniguchi had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-2 fastball from Bill Oestreich, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Drillers a 4-2 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Taniguchi.
