|
In a tight tilt between the DeKalb Cornhuskers and the Boston Whitecaps, Joey Lizotte was the deciding factor. The DeKalb right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Lizotte yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 4-4. Getting the save was Mike Kalk, his 4th.
Had Kevin Kliewer not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Kliewer hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Cornhuskers.
Kliewer called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
The Cornhuskers now have a record of 46-58.
