The Boston Whitecaps eked out a 2-1 win versus the Silicon Valley Hackers at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Tim Rae. He was terrific. David Castro was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 4 save opportunities. The Whitecaps now have a record of 72-50 with the win over Silicon Valley.

Mwai Chipende had a direct impact on the outcome. Chipende contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Boston up, 2-0.

"Tim commanded the zone from bottom to top," said Boston manager T.J. Hall.
