The game was at a stalemate until catcher Eugene Holden came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Sandy Springs pitcher Mike Hampton, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Evanston on top, 5-4.
