Drillers Rally For Late Win Over Whitecaps
Boston wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Tim Rae, falling to the Beaumont Drillers, 3-1. Rae threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Beaumont reliever Mike LaRiviere picked up the win, upping his record to 4-8. David Castro took the loss. The 4th-place Drillers have a record of 58-74.

Beaumont used the timely hitting of Stan Spencer to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Drillers on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Boston skipper T.J. Hall, "and it cost us."
