Pipe Fitters Win Squeaker, 6-5, Over Cornhuskers
|
Due in large part to left fielder Carlos Aispuro, the Niagara Falls Pipe Fitters sunk the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 6-5. Aispuro was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Dave Wenzel closed the door for Niagara Falls, picking up his 11th save of the year. After today's action, Niagara Falls sits at 74-58; DeKalb slips to 66-68.
Sam Payne drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate for Niagara Falls. With one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Payne had a clutch at-bat. Facing DeKalb hurler Frank Sturge, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Pipe Fitters a 6-5 lead.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Aispuro said.
