Klick Stars as Steelheads Top Beetlecats, 5-4
|
The Roaring River Steelheads beat the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats, 5-4, at Casino Grounds. The win was due in part to first baseman Mike Klick, who was 3-4 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. David Ruano picked up the win, lifting his record to 6-11 on the season. He struck out 2 and walked 1 in 7.2 innings, while yielding 4 runs. Justin Bissey earned his 13th save, after closing out the game.
Roaring River right fielder David Makatura helped the Steelheads go up, 5-4, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Makatura hit a run-scoring single off Buzzard's Bay pitcher Marco Acosta.
Afterward, Buzzard's Bay manager Dorian Payne said: "We've hit a rough patch."
The Steelheads are now 62-72, while the Beetlecats fall to 60-74.
