In a tight contest at The Coliseum, the Sandy Springs Spartans edged the Fraser Valley Black Bears by the score of 4-3. Sandy Springs center fielder Ian Sturgeon, who blasted 2 home runs, was a key contributor. The second-place Spartans improved to 68-47.

Sturgeon had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the seventh inning, when he hit a solo home run. The Spartans went on to win.

"We couldn't have scripted it any better," Sturgeon said in his postgame press conference.
