Neubauer Helps Beetlecats Beat Drillers, 7-3
|
The 7-3 Buzzard's Bay win over Beaumont was due largely to Josh Neubauer. The Beetlecats catcher was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Phil Jackson got the win, improving to 14-7. He worked 7.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Robby Medlin nailed down his 6th save.
Dave Hunt had a big 2-run double for the Beetlecats in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Buzzard's Bay leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Peter Phillips and swatted a double to left. It was his 30th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Beetlecats ahead, 5-2.
Neubauer attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
With the win, Buzzard's Bay has a record of 64-74. Beaumont falls to 61-79.
