Rock River got a big-time effort from pitcher Marlon Walton, but it wasn't enough to keep the DeKalb Cornhuskers from winning the game, 3-2. Walton threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. With the win, DeKalb has a record of 71-73. Rock River falls to 88-54.

DeKalb got a knockout punch from Ritchie Turco. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Cornhuskers manager Trey Burrell.
