Beetlecats Improve to 66-59 with 4-2 Win
|
The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats earned a win at The Coffee Grinder, knocking off the Black Mountain Mountaineers, 4-2. On the bump for Buzzard's Bay was right-hander Justin Sweat. He had a starring role in the triumph. Daniel Castro earned the save, his 12th in 13 tries. The second-place Mountaineers have dropped 4 straight games.
The Beetlecats got a big at-bat from third baseman Gus Ruiz. For the game, Ruiz went 1-2 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 15th double of the season gave Buzzard's Bay a 2-1 lead.
"I was talking to myself on the mound, saying 'attack, attack, attack, stay convicted, no matter what,'" said Sweat.
