The Marysville Monarchs got a marvelous performance from pitcher Ken McCutcheon. The right-hander kept the Frisco offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 5-1 Marysville victory at Mitts Fieldhouse. The Monarchs saw their record improve to 43-103.

Jose Valentin had a big 2-run home run for the Monarchs in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Marysville leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Kasey Schumm, who is tied for 2nd in the RAA in strikeouts with 166, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Monarchs on top, 3-0.

"Nice to get this one," said Valentin. "We've been scuffling."
