Buzzard's Bay Stymied by Rock River, 2-0
|
Rock River Rats pitcher Manny Irizarry was in top form, leading his team past the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats, 2-0. Rock River's record now stands at 71-56, placing them third in the TML AA Bruce Bochy Division.
Yoshihiro Matsumoto had a big solo home run for the Rats in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Rock River leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from Robby Medlin and swatted a home run to left. It was his 16th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rats ahead, 2-0.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Irizarry.
