Cornhuskers Popped by Rats, 6-3
|
The Rock River Rats downed the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 6-3. The hitting star was center fielder John Howard. Howard went 3 for 3 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Rats. Reliever Danny Grotberg picked up the win. His record improves to 8-2. Alex Zavala, who is tied for 9th in the TAA with a 1.28 WHIP, took the loss. Rock River, at 103-52, is 4 games up in the TML AA Bruce Bochy Division.
Adam Dixon went 2-3 with 2 singles for Rock River. The 27-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Alex Zavala. It was his 56th RBI of the season.
"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Dixon told the Rock River Daily.
