The Evanston Bishops weathered an outstanding game by Boston catcher Justin Alexander to topple the Whitecaps, 8-5. Alexander was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Evanston now has a record of 69-66 with the win.
Early in the game, center fielder Gary Parris had a bases-clearing double for Evanston. It was his 12th double of the season and put the Bishops on top, 3-0.
"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Parris told the Evanston Daily.
