Cornhuskers Get Extra-Inning, 6-5 Win
|
David Beall was instrumental in his team's 6-5, extra-inning triumph over the Wauwatosa Indians. The center fielder was 3-5 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the DeKalb Cornhuskers. John Kibler picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 4-4. Kevin Walczak suffered the loss. Kevin Tighe picked up the save, his 1st.
DeKalb needed the clutch hitting of Byron Mundis to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Cornhuskers on top, 6-5. For the game, Mundis had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Mundis. "You've got to get results."
The 6th-place Cornhuskers improved to 62-76.
