7 Straight Wins for Seagulls

The Clearwater Seagulls got a stellar performance from pitcher Carlos Loera, who handcuffed the Wichita offense en route to a win, 5-1, at Chapman Field. Carlos Loera picked up the win in relief. Alex Gonzalez took the loss for Wichita. The last-place Wolverines have lost 7 consecutive games.
The Seagulls got a big at-bat from right fielder Jesse Weinreb. For the game, Weinreb was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 20th home run of the season gave Clearwater a 2-0 lead.
"Winning is great," Weinreb said. "It's always just guys picking each other up -- if not me, then the next guy."
