O'Berry reaches base 3 times, Leads Alpines to Win
The Saint John Alpines put one in the win column on Opening Day at Alpines Field. The Alpines defeated the Victoria Cougars, 7-4. Saint John first baseman Doug O'Berry was instrumental in his team's success. He was 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Danny Serna closed the door for Saint John, picking up his 1st save of the year.

O'Berry had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-2 cutter from Ron Krause, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Alpines a 5-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for O'Berry.

"In this profession, you've got to put the good and the bad behind you quickly," Victoria skipper Tony Varela said.
