Bulldogs Spoil Opening Day for Green Wave, Their Fans
|
Berthoud College Grounds was the site of the home opener for the Tulane Green Wave. The contest featured a prime matchup between Chris Grover of the visiting Fresno State Bulldogs and Jeremy Trent of the Green Wave. The final score was 6-2, the Bulldogs getting the win. Earning player of the game honors was Chris Grover. Grover picked up the win for Fresno State, going 5 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0.
Fresno State used the timely hitting of Robert Horstmann to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Bulldogs ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Horstmann said after the game.
