Riding the 3-hit performance of the 16-year old third baseman Carlos Villarreal, the Springfield Sentries defeated the Bloomington Hoosiers, 3-1. Leonel Macias, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 4.1 innings. The loss puts Bloomington at 4-2.

The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Villarreal hit a run-scoring single off Omar Orozco. It propelled the Sentries into the lead, 2-1.

"Tough loss," said Bloomington manager Matthew Buchanan. "But we'll rebound from it."
