Griffith Pops Two Homers in 14-6 Win for South Mississippi
Thanks in large part to first baseman Paul Griffith, the South Mississippi Golden Eagles beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 14-6. Griffith went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Mike Marshall got the save, the 1st for him this season. The loss lowers the Mississippi State record to 2-2.

The Golden Eagles got a big hit from third baseman Matt Mulholland. Facing Mississippi State pitcher Gilbert Chiaretti in the bottom of the sixth, Mulholland pounded a grand slam home run to left. His 1st home run of the season put the Golden Eagles ahead, 12-4.

"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Griffith. "Those qualities define our team."
