The South Mississippi Golden Eagles thumped the Stanford Cardinals, 9-2, at Surfers Ballpark. Paul Griffith was a big reason his team got the win. Griffith went 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. After losing, Stanford is 2-3.

South Mississippi used a well-timed hit by Josh Pryor to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Golden Eagles ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"I thought we played a nice game," Pryor told the South Mississippi Bulletin. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
