The Mojave Rattlers overcame a pretty good performance by Aiken second baseman Jose Solis, beating the Thoroughbreds, 8-6, at Aiken Stadium. Solis was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs. Ricky Ortega got credit for the save for Mojave. It was his 2nd of the year. Aiken drops to 10-1.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Mario Laque? The Mojave right fielder had a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rattlers on top, 8-6. For the game, Laque had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Jimmy Bernard said.
