Hernandez Slugs 49'ers to 16-7 Win
The Long Beach State 49'ers downed the Stanford Cardinals, 16-7, at Ballpark of Macclenny College. The 49'ers were led by Willie Hernandez. Hernandez hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. With the win, Long Beach State climbs to 5-4.

Humberto Sanchez had a big grand slam home run for the 49'ers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Long Beach State leading 6-3 and the bases loaded, he sized up a cutter from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Joe Reed and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the 49'ers on top, 10-3.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Sanchez said.
