Waugh Helps Toronto Bombard Aiken
The Aiken Thoroughbreds and Toronto Blue Jays riveted fans at Exhibition Stadium.

The Toronto Blue Jays blasted the Aiken Thoroughbreds, 20-4. Ben Waugh was one of the hitting stars. He went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 4 times and drove in 3 for Toronto. Picking up the win was Sean Meloche. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits. The right--hander struck out 9 and walked 4.

A key moment came with no one out in the bottom of the first. That's when Waugh hit a curveball from Jose Salazar for a run-scoring single, putting Toronto up, 1-0.

"Bad day," Aiken manager Bobby Hobbs said. "New day tomorrow."

The Blue Jays raised their record to 18-1.
