Brighton Makes It 7 Straight with 6-4 Win
|
The Saint John Alpines got a sterling performance from pitcher Aaron Ashe, but the Brighton Steelhounds still prevailed, 6-4. Ashe threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The win belonged to Bruce Ray in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Justin Campbell took the loss for Saint John. Ricky Villegas collected his 4th save.
Elijah Bryant went 1 for 3 with a walk for Brighton. The 20-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Kyu-pyeong Kim. It was his 16th walk of the season.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Bryant after the game.
Brighton has a record of 16-6.
