Big Day by Oliva Ignites Thunderbirds Win
Led by Alex Oliva, the Surrey Thunderbirds defeated the Santa Clara Vampyres, 13-9. Oliva, a native of Guacara, Carabobo, went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Thunderbirds. Jonathan Guerrero snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits over 3 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Ricardo Hernandez Jr. collected save number 2.

Mario Figueroa, who is tied for 10th in the RLA in triples with 2, helped out the Surrey cause in the bottom of the third inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the right fielder was 1 for 4, while adding 3 RBI.

"No shortage of offense this time around," said Oliva.
