Buckeyes Fall Short, 2-1, at Florida
|
The Florida Gators picked up a win at Ballpark of Bismarck College, knocking off the Ohio State Buckeyes, 2-1. On the mound for Florida was right-hander Nick Burks, who played a pivotal role in the win. Burks went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 2-0. Jacob Kuehl picked up the save for Florida, his 1st of the year.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the fourth inning. Facing Ohio State hurler Joel Shomo, George Conlee, who is the top prospect in the Gators organization, drew a walk. The Gators went on to win.
"I like what I saw today," said Florida manager Gilberto Morales, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
Florida, at 12-8, sits in 4th place in the Ron Fraser Division.
