Moreno, Thoroughbreds Rough Up Sentries, 11-3
|
The Aiken Thoroughbreds met little resistance from the Springfield Sentries, beating them, 11-3, at Aiken Stadium. Jose Moreno led the way. He was 2-2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3 for Aiken. Paul Lemieux, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 8. His record now stands at 3-0. Aiken, at 38-7, is 13½ games up in the TML LA West Division.
The Thoroughbreds got a big boost from center fielder Jose Solis who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Sentries hurler Jeremy Koronkiewicz. It was his 54th RBI of the season and put Aiken on top, 1-0.
"It was great to come out and swing the bats," Solis told the Aiken Today.
