Kisor Hits 3 Dingers, Thoroughbreds Win, 9-0
|
The Aiken Thoroughbreds beat the San Carlos Pipers, 9-0, at Pipers Grove. Aiken left fielder Jon Kisor had the hot bat. He belted 3 home runs. He drove in 8 runs and scored three times. Sergio Rivera earned the win for Aiken. He lasted 7 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 3-0. The Thoroughbreds lead the TML LA West Division by 15½ games.
With Aiken leading 1-0 in the top of the sixth, Kisor hit a sinker from Tony Nunez for a grand slam home run. It was his 22nd home run of the season and put the Thoroughbreds ahead, 5-0.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Aiken skipper Bobby Hobbs.
