Cavaliers Fall Short, 3-2, at Miami
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Miami Hurricanes and the Virginia Cavaliers, 18-year old left-handed pitcher Josh Raiola proved to be the difference. The Miami left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Hurricanes win. Raiola, now 2-1, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Miami is 11-16 and Virginia, with the loss, 12-15.
The Hurricanes got a gift in the bottom of the fourth inning, when they were leading 1-0. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Anthony Jones reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. It made the score 2-0, Miami.
"Josh set the tone with his ability to attack the hitters," said Miami manager Jody Farley.
