Super Swinger -- Rummer Slams 5 Hits
|
Toronto right fielder Adam Rummer had a fantastic day at the plate at Exhibition Stadium, knocking out 5 hits and pacing his club to a win, 11-4.
"It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Rummer said after his 5-for-5 performance against the Crawfish. "No offense meant to Victory Lakes, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid park, it was Exhibition Stadium."
After the game, his manager elaborated on the right fielder's improvements, saying Rummer spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball.
"That's what I'm trying to do," Rummer said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
Adam Rummer hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Tamaichi Ri in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Juan Jimenez in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and singled in the 8th.
This year, Rummer has 23 home runs and a .503 batting average.
