The Martinsburg Maulers got production from their entire lineup in an easy 14-0 win over the Springfield Sentries. Doing his part was second baseman Roger Cortez. Cortez, who is tied for 9th in the RLA in runs scored with 52, slugged 3 home runs. He drove in 8 runs and scored three times. Miguel Garcia got the win, improving to 6-3. He held the Sentries to no runs on 2 hits over 8.1 innings, while striking out 12 and walking 2. Martinsburg is 31-25 and Springfield, with the loss, 23-33.

With Martinsburg leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Cortez hit a fastball from Rey Rodriguez for a 2-run home run. It was his 16th home run of the season and put the Maulers ahead, 3-0.

"They took it to us," said Springfield manager Barrett Jackson.
