The Aiken Thoroughbreds firmly defeated the Victoria Cougars, 15-1, at Aiken Stadium. The Aiken offense was lit. Shigeo Iguchi, for one, had a solid game. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice for the Thoroughbreds. Sergio Rivera, the winner, goes to 4-0. He allowed no runs on 3 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Shiro Teshima collected save number 1.

With Aiken leading 9-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Iguchi came up to bat against Victoria pitcher Etana Turagabea. Iguchi hit a sinker to left for a grand slam home run. His 13th home run of the season put the Thoroughbreds on top, 13-1.

Victoria manager Tony Varela called the blowout loss "a real dud."

The first-place Thoroughbreds bumped their record to 48-9.
