Aiken Nerve Tested in 5-4 Win
|
Santa Clara center fielder DeMario Alvarez was sensational. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Aiken beat the Vampyres, 5-4, in 10 innings. Aiken has won 6 consecutive games.
The Thoroughbreds got a clutch hit from third baseman Jose Cortez. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Thoroughbreds.
Cortez told a Aiken Today reporter that he felt "elated" after the win.
