Sentries Snatch Late-Game, 8-7 Win
The 8-7 Springfield win over Kingston was due in large part to Willie Valverde. The Sentries third baseman went 5-5 with a double, 4 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win went to Manny Becerra in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Luis Valdez took the loss. Springfield goes to 24-34, Kingston to 15-44.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Valverde hit a fastball from Luis Valdez for a run-scoring single. The Sentries, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"We couldn't have scripted it any better," Valverde said in his postgame press conference.
