Blue Jays 8, Maulers 6
|
Toronto put its winning streak on the line.
Bill Navarro did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Martinsburg Maulers from being beaten, 8-6, to the Toronto Blue Jays at Exhibition Stadium. Navarro went 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Now 57-2, Toronto has won 11 consecutive games.
Toronto left fielder Adam Rummer contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 93rd hit of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead, 7-4.
"This game is about whoever is putting up more runs," said Blue Jays manager Bryan Fulcher. "Simple as that."
