Barsi, Bears Too Much for Longhorns
The Baylor Bears defeated the Texas Longhorns, 8-7, at Wolverines Stadium. Baylor was led by 18-year old second baseman Steve Barsi, who went 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Bobby Job, 2-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Baylor raised its record to 19-14 with the win.

With Baylor leading 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth, Barsi hit a run-scoring single off Texas hurler Aaron Waters. It was the 43rd hit of the season for Barsi and put his team ahead, 6-4.

"In this profession, you've got to put the good and the bad behind you quickly," Texas skipper Danny Oliver said.
