Leprechauns Lose By a Run at Rancho
|
The Rancho Cucamonga got a magnificent performance from pitcher Miguel Villanueva, who muffled the Royal Oak offense en route to a tight, 2-1 Cucamonga win at Steelers Park. In 6.2 innings, Villanueva surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 8. He allowed 1 run. Mario de la Cruz earned the save for Rancho, his 12th of the year.
German Ramos had a big solo home run for the Cucamonga in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Rancho leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from Alexis Anguiano and swatted a home run to center. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cucamonga ahead, 2-0.
Ramos told a Rancho Times reporter that the win made him feel "upbeat about our team."
Their 21-38 record puts the Cucamonga 5th in the TML LA West Division.
